Thermal Cracking

• Very abrasive cutting conditions. • High rotation speed. • Cutting too deep.

• Adjust rotation and feed of machine.

Excessive Carbide Wear

• Contact your Kennametal sales Representative for a full evaluation. • Narrow bottom tip, X-series, hardfacing. • Increase feed.

• Grinding of material not conveyed. • Abrasive cutting conditions.

Steel Wash

• Conical not rotating. • Misaligned blocks. • Sticky cutting conditions. • Worn blocks. • Excess material build-up on tool.

• Clean the conical for foreign particles. • Tap the conical. • Contact your Kennametal sales Representative for a full evaluation.

One-Sided Steel/ Wear on Gage

• Worn block bore. • Worn-out sleeve.
