CFI's Driven Pile Academy: Hosted by the PDCA

Chevron LNG Terminal in Port of Colon, Panama

INTRODUCTION

Combining the use of a vibratory hammer with a diesel hammer is always a good idea, when : Crane capacity limitations don’t allow for a correct sized vibro configurations Project Specs require pile capacity to be tested (with an impact hammer) When soils such as elastic clays and silts are present in soil conditions Diesel hammers impact energy ranges from 10,000 ft/lbs (5 ton/ft) up to 2 million ft/lbs (500 ton/ft). Vibro hammers drive force ranges from 4,000lbs (2T) to 14.4 million lbs (7,200T). Vibro hammers line pull ranges from 12,000lbs (6T) to 8.4 million lbs (4,200T). Many driving systems are limited by the crane that is available to the job site.
